Dr Nic employs a
staff who have been well trained and are dedicated to good
performance of their duties. A maintenance/cleaning staff consisting
of two people, Mrs. Julia Sefako and Mr. Fanie Mkhize is responsible
for the daily refuse removal and cleanliness of the kennel
buildings. Both these people have had training in animal handling
and grooming.

Dr Nic is constantly
available for any “emergency”, and is only a phone call away. His
day begins and ends with an inspection of all his
animals.
South Africa has
stringent health regulations which have to be adhered to and
diseases such as rabies, distemper, canine hepatitis, para-influenza,
bordatella, corona, leptospirosis are strictly controlled by a
comprehensive vaccination program.
Health officials and
Veterinarians are constantly alert to the possibility of a threat to
the animal population, and strict control in the field of animal
movement and animal health is adhered to. We pride ourselves on the
fact that certain diseases prevalent in other parts of Africa have
been eradicated in South Africa.
Animals exported
from S.A have to be examined thoroughly by a Veterinarian and
documents of vaccination and general health are also required before
export is allowed. These documents are examined by Veterinarians on
arrival of the pups at their destination, and are an indication of
the well being and health of the animals. In S.A there are many
breeders of pups whose blood-lines would greatly enhance the quality
of blood-lines in other parts of the world.
All our animals are
fitted with an Identipet micro-chip which provides the owner with
the security of knowing that if the animal is lost or stolen,
recovery is possible by being able to scan the animal. This
microchip is inserted by Dr Nic on the animal's neck between the
shoulder blades. This safety device is a great advantage to owners
of the dog. The number on the micro-chip can be registered for a fee
at the American Kennel Club Animal Recovery Unit in Raleigh, North
Carolina. Contact Number: 919 854
0139.
